Susan Robertson Design recently partnered with Mulberry Bush Toys Ltd to help name, create, launch and promote their new sister brand: Pear Tree Personalised.

The brand was developed to build on Mulberry Bush’s established expertise in crafting personalised gifts in their Sussex workshop. The objective was to create a distinctive yet complementary brand that could sit confidently alongside the parent company while appealing to a broader gifting audience.

Finding the right name was the first challenge we faced. As a family business Mulberry Bush were keen to find a name for their new brand that complemented their heritage and growth, but that was also distinctive, tangible and fresh. Pear Wood is beloved for its fine grain and ability to be finely worked – and as a Pear Tree also currently flourishes in the owner’s garden – ‘Pear Tree’ was presented by us as the perfect (and pleasingly alliterative) foil to ‘Personalised’.

Following our initial naming and brand proposition development, our work encompassed a range of brand and marketing activity including brand identity and visual style, tone of voice, website reskin, social media design and management, email newsletter content and design, print collateral, Christmas sales campaign concepts and product photography. We also collaborated closely on the creative development of a completely new range of personalised gifts and homewares.

She applied the new identity confidently across our full range of customer touchpoints, including campaigns, newsletters, social media and online, and worked with our web developer to ensure the new look and feel was translated consistently and effectively across our existing e-commerce website.

Sue also played a key role in bringing our new personalised gift range to life, supporting us with creative direction, photography and visualisation. Her contribution has been greatly appreciated, and we would not hesitate to recommend her branding and design services.
